Yes, your Therapist in Modesto thinks about You.

First and foremost, yes, as a therapist, I do spend time outside of sessions thinking about my clients. As a therapist, here are a few things taken into consideration how you are doing, your feedback, any stuck points, and how we can support your journey. Other times, it is thinking about what type of support would be beneficial to you. As a therapist, I often ask my clients, “How did it go after the session once you had more  time to digest and let the session settle?” Being in private practice also allows me to tailor this process to you.

What does a therapist in Modesto CA do between sessions?

So, you just finished an awesome session with your therapist - Now what? What happens for this therapist after a session can vary. Why? Sometimes, as human beings, we have different needs. For example, you come into the session ready to dive in deep, and at other times, you might need to take a break from the deep work.

In between sessions, I take the time to check in with my mind, body, and being – what is needed. That might mean I grab some water, coffee, or a snack. Other times, it might look like taking a brief walk, stretching, or deep breathing. I may complete a consultation or check in with one of my fellow therapists. During this time, between sessions, it is important for me to tend to the basic but fundamental needs.

What happens after my Therapy Session in Modesto?

After your session, as your therapist, I may send you any supportive information that was discussed. Check-in if there has been any communication from other clients that are in need of a response. Further task include writing notes, preparing material for your next session, or consulting if needed.

Continuing to be a Therapist in California

As your therapist, there are also ongoing tasks that need to occur. For example, continuing with training. Fulfilling ongoing continuing education requirements by the Board of Behavioral Science (the board that oversees Marriage and Family Therapists in California). As well as continuing with additional training to build knowledge and skill sets in the areas of focus. Areas of focus, such as anxiety, grief counseling, and couples work.

I also believe we can grow in the community; thus, I am part of an ongoing consultation group. During the consultation groups,we can share resources like training, books, articles, and apps (and much more), provide support to each other, and, of course, consult about cases when needed. This is also a time when we can share our journeys as therapists.

One aspect that happens during your Therapy process

One aspect that is important throughout my years as a therapist is that we incorporate into the process with all of my clients is to celebrate. We celebrate the process and the progress. Sometimes, that progress is the ongoing commitment to showing up, a breakthrough, learning to be with your thoughts and feelings, to being able to engage in regulating. The celebrations are endless. It is important to reflect and acknowledge your own ongoing efforts to show up for yourself.
